Our home, the new chemistry building is pictured here in aerial view. Lower center, chemistry building, which is attached by a bridge to the life sciences building. Next to the life sciences building is the round Eisenhower auditorium, named after President Eisenhowers brother, Milton Eisenhower, who was a President of Penn State.

Badding Group Members

Prof.John V. Badding

Neil Baril. Neil is working on the CVD in microsctructured optical fiber project. His research focuses on the nanoscale chemistry necessary to improve the materials deposited with the fiber pores.

Jacob Calkins. Jacob is working on the microfluidic deposition in microstructured optical fiber project. His research focuses on refining and understanding the in-fiber micro/nanoscale deposition chemistry useful for fabricating new classes of materials, structures, and devices.

Dr. Rongrui He joins us from UC Berkeley. He is working on the CVD in microstructured optical fiber project.

Evan Leibner. Evan comes to us from Union College. He is working on jet blowing of polymer nanofibers and composites for biomedical applications. This work is being pursued collaboratively with Prof. Mike Pishko, Prof. Erwin Vogler, and Prof. Ayusman Sen.

Dr. Maekele Yosef is working jointly in the Badding and Sen groups on the synthesis of inorganic/organic nanocomposites and materials.

Dr. Angel Ugrinov. Angel comes to us from a post-doc at the University of Michigan with Prof. Yaghi. He did his Ph.D. with Prof. Sevov at Notre Dame. He is working jointly in the Sen and Badding groups on the synthesis of inorganic/organic nanocomposites and materials.

Weinan Chen is working togethr with Evan Leibner on the polymer nanofibers for biomedial applications project, collaborating with Mike Pishko, Ayusman Sen, and Erwin Vogler.

Justin Sparks is working on the fabrication in fibers project, improving the materials quality of the structures deposited and investigating deposition of new materials.

Allen Chao is working with Jacob Calkins on improving capabilities for nanofabrication in microstructured optical fiber templates.

Kevin Bancroft is a freshman working on the hydrogen storage in carbon project, collaborative with Angela Lueking.
