Deep UV (257 nm) Raman spectra demonstrating that C60 can be crushed directly into crystalline diamond at room temperature. The top UV Raman spectrum is characteristic of diamond. Visible Raman spectra of the crushed C60 sample do not have this crystalline diamond Raman mode due to interference from fluorescence and/or scattering from sp2 bonded carbon.
